The Diseases of Mystics.<\/em>\u00a0 These are concerned with those attitudes of mind, those complexities of idea and those “spiritual enterprises” which affect the mystically inclined or those who are aware of the spiritual dualism of which St. Paul wrote in the Epistle to the Romans [Romans 7<\/a>].\u00a0 He wrote as follows:<\/p>\n

“For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.<\/p>\n

For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.<\/p>\n

If then I do what I would not, I consent under the law that it<\/em> is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n

Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.<\/p>\n

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh), dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how<\/em> to perform that which is good I find not.<\/p>\n

For the good that I would, I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.<\/p>\n

Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.T<\/p>\n

The first major rent was made by the establishment of the Law of God<\/span>, and this is portrayed for us symbolically in The Old Testament in the story of Moses. He went up into the Mount of God and there received the Ten Commandments.\u00a0 This is the expression of divine law as adapted for humanity and as needed in the projection of those forces which will destroy, purify and reorganise.\u00a0 Moses, the Lawgiver, penetrated to one of the halls within the Veils of maya, and there encountered the glory of the Lord. <\/span>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
